OTIF, DIFOT and why the definition decides the number
OTIF (On Time In Full) and DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time) both measure the share of orders that arrived on time AND complete — an order fails if it is late or short. The formula is simple; the number depends entirely on the definition: whether “on time” is your dispatch date or the customer’s delivery window, whether “in full” is order, line or unit level, and how much tolerance is allowed.
This matters commercially because major grocers fine suppliers for missed OTIF against their own strict definition — a narrow booked window, unit-level fill, often zero tolerance. Your comfortable internal figure can read healthy while the retailer scorecard that generates the invoice reads far lower. The calculator gives a directional exposure; the real number depends on the retailer’s rule.
